Cooler Master has announced the CK720, a mechanical keyboard designed to be customized with hot-swappable switches. This is the company’s first mechanical keyboard designed for customization at an enthusiast level, especially designed for those who build and collect mechanical keyboards.
“The CK720 is our answer to a niche segment of the hobby that we’ve seen explode in recent years,” says Dennis Liu, Peripheral General Manager. “Although gaming keyboards remain an essential offering of our company, we couldn’t ignore the outpouring of feedback from our fans who wanted our signature quality in a hot-swappable mechanical keyboard.”.
CK720 Features
The CK720 features a removable sandblasted aluminum top cover, ergonomic keycaps and a 65% format layout built with all the essentials. It is also equipped with Two-Step Keyboard Feet, which allows users to set up their keyboard at three adjustable keyboard angles.
The keyboard also uses the latest Kailh Box V2 switch, which comes with 5-pin design, internal cover for inner structure protection and is pre-lubed by factory. In the box is also included a set of plus extra MX Green switches for that heavy clicky actuation. Switches are hot-swappable and can be easily removed.
The precision 3-way dial gives users complete control over media and backlighting with a single turn or a press — easily customizable via MasterPlus+ software. It also uses the new Cooler Master Exclusive stabilizers, pre-lubed for minimal rattle and smooth travel and silicone padding on the PCB and filling the bottom plate, which absorbs hollow ping and enables a fuller, more satisfying thock or clack.
The CK720 uses durable PBT double-shot keycaps to avoid fading. Unlike printing, this keycap type is produced when two layers of plastic are molded into each other. Users can adjust macros and profiles settings in real-time, while the Cooler Master MasterPlus+ software allows for deeper customisation.
Lastly, users can easily switch between Windows and macOS layout via the combination of FN + Right Shift.
