WhatsApp has announced several new features for the popular web messaging service, and one of them includes support for animated stickers. This might have taken them a while, but it’s still better than never.
WhatsApp – Animated Stickers
Used to be just static stickers, users can now use stickers that are animated. Apart from that, it’s just that – moving stickers. I guess it better helps you express your emotion and feeling. So, if you’re angry, use a sticker. But if you’re really angry, use an animated sticker. If you’re furious, use a GIF.
WhatsApp – Dark Mode for WhatsApp Web
Not only that, WhatsApp has also made its WhatsApp Web interface into dark mode. No more eye strain when you’re looking at chats on your browser. This would be useful if your entire desktop setup is already in dark mode, and your browser doesn’t blind you with a white wall.
WhatsApp – QR Code Support
Another feature introduced is support for QR codes. This lets users add new people onto their WhatsApp just by scanning a QR code. There’s no longer a need to add a phone number into your contacts, then have WhatsApp scan it to add it in.
WhatsApp – Group Video Call Improvements
Having up to 8 people in a video call, you can now focus on just one person just by pressing and holding to maximize the person’s video to full screen. There’s also the addition of a new video icon in group chats of 8 or less, so you can easily start a group call with one tap.
WhatsApp – Status comes to KaiOS
KaiOS users can now enjoy the popular feature that lets you share updates that disappear after 24 hours.
These features are currently being rolled out globally, so do expect to see these features pop up in your next WhatsApp update.
