It wasn’t very long ago that OPPO launched its first generation of Reno series smartphones. Eight months later, we now see the birth of the OPPO Reno 3 series. Announced in China, both the OPPO Reno 3 Pro and Reno 3 offer 5G connectivity.
Specifications
The OPPO Reno 3 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s latest 7nm Snapdragon 765G processor, paired with a 6.5-inch OLED display that has a keyhole notch. The screen also has a 90Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 colour space, and support for HDR10+. In the camera department, on the back there’s a quad-camera setup consisting of a 48MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens, 13MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, and a 2MP monochrome sensor.
As for the OPPO Reno 3, it has a slightly smaller 6.4-inch FHD+ OLED display. It is also the first device to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1000L processor, capable of 5G connectivity as well. As for its camera, its quad-camera system on the back is slightly different with a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide angle sensor, 12MP telephoto sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor.
Apart from the above mentioned features, the OPPO Reno 3 Pro and Reno 3 are pretty similar. They both have 32MP selfie cameras, a 4,025mAh battery that supports 30W VOOC 4.0 fast charging, as well as an in-display fingerprint sensor. In terms of software, OPPO will be shipping the Reno 3 series with ColorOS 7 based on Android 10, right out of the box.
Pricing and Availability
Customers will have four colour options to choose from for both these devices – White, Starry Night Blue, Sunrise, and Black. The OPPO Reno 3 Pro and Reno 3 will be available in China starting the 10th of January 2019 and 31st of December respectively.

OPPO Reno 3 Pro “Classic Blue”
Apart from the four colourways above, OPPO also has another version of the Reno 3 Pro that is draped in blue. This is the “Classic Blue” edition which is bandwagoning on classic blue being the colour of the year in 2020. It only comes in the base configuration of 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM, and will have matching accessories.
