The Black Shark 3S now officially launched and it is the latest product to enter the Black Shark 3 series. Compared to the original Black Shark 3, there are some upgrades, but none include a Snapdragon 865+ chipset that was expected.
Black Shark 3S
The Black Shark 3S runs on a Snapdragon 865 processor instead, but now has 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM as well as up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. On the Black Shark 3, they were just LPDDR4 RAM and UFS 3.0 respectively.
For its display, it still retains the 6.67-inch AMOLED display, but now upgraded with a 120Hz refresh rate as compared to the BS3’s 90Hz refresh rate. On top of the new JOYUI 12 that is based on Android 10, there is a new Screen Mirroring feature built in that lets you output your phone’s display to your computer’s screen via USB Type-C. In this mode, the output footage will be at 60fps, 40ms latency, and allows you to play games with a mouse and keyboard.
Apart from that, it shares the same camera setup as the Black Shark 3 and Black Shark 3 Pro. Also, like the non-Pro variant of the Black Shark 3, the Black Shark 3S doesn’t include the mechanical shoulder buttons/air triggers.
