Oppo has just announced its new device Oppo Find X3 Pro as an addition to its Find X series. The Find X series is long known for breakthroughs for its camera system. While explore the possibility to zoom in to objects with distance in the past, Oppo now introduces the microscopic lens to allow you to look into the micro world.

Design
The Oppo Find X3 Pro weights about 196g and has a 6.7″ display which is a 92.7% screen to body ratio. The Find X3 Pro features a glossy glass back that is mirrorlike. The material makes the phone comfortable to hold, giving it a cool feeling. However, due to the nature of glass material, it acts like a fingerprint magnet and it’s quite slippery to hold without a casing.
The Oppo Find X3 Pro no longer has a camera bump as it has a gradient arc camera that resolves edgy camera bump’s outlook issue which now looks more elegant and classy. With the new design, we feel less worried of scratching the camera edges or knocking it.
The volume button is placed on the left side on the phone, while having the power button on the right. As of the placing, the power button is just about right for someone with small hands. However, the volume button is quite hard to reach while using the phone single-handed. Worst of all, the fingerprint sensor feels out of place. It settles right at the bottom of the screen. Phones usually have it placed on a slightly higher position so that you can move your thumb easily from the power button to the fingerprint sensor.
Performance
The Oppo Find X3 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 that is said to lower power consumption, extending battery life. Although there are reports that it will overheat, we have not faced overheating problems while charging. The device also did not overheat while gaming or over long period of use.
The Find X3 Pro’s display does support up to 120hz refresh rate, and it does switch itself to lower refresh rate when needed to save battery. The O-Sync Display Hyper Response Engine enables you to have lag free experience while navigating around, which is essential for people who like to game. Equipped with 12GB RAM + 256GB ROM, it’s easy to switch apps or load heavy performing apps or games on the device.
Battery Life
As for the battery life, Oppo packed in two 2,250mAh batteries into the Find X3 Pro, which totals up to 4,500mAh. We managed to clock up to 4 hours of gaming and still had about 40% battery left to bring around for the rest of the day. The 65W VOOC Supercharge also allowed us to charge up to 40% in 10 minutes, which is convenient for those who always forgets to charge the phone. You can put it to charge while you are getting ready, and have enough battery charged up to last the day.
Camera
Last but not least, Oppo Find X3 has a very interesting camera feature. Qualcomm Spectra 580 Triple Image Signal Processor (ISP) features architecture improvements for speed, image quality, computer vision, and HDR image sensors. It is 35% faster than the previous generation and can now capture 2.7 Gigapixels per second.
In practice, it allows the Find X3 Pro’s 50MP wide-angle shooter and 50MP ultra-wide shooter to capture 10-bit HDR HEIF image files with multi-frame noise reduction (MFNR). This translates to HDR images in RAW+ format, which offers even more image data than RAW format for better details up to approximately one billion colours and low noise. It is also capable of capturing 120fps burst snapshots to shoot high-speed action without missing the moment
As mentioned earlier, we can now use its camera as a microscope. I couldn’t believe a phone’s camera could do this at first, but it surprised me. However, you don’t really want to look at everything under the microscope. At first, we took pictures out of curiosity yet we have no idea what to take picture of after awhile.
Here’s some sample photos: (care to guess what are these?)
Oppo Find X3’s quad camera system includes a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera, 50MP wide-angle camera, 3MP microlens camera and 13MP telephoto camera which takes amazing photos. Here’s some outdoor photo samples and a great shot of our famous resident cat (she complains that it is so clear that we can see her dirty paws).
Conclusion
After using the Oppo Find X3 Pro, we were very impressed with what the device brings to the overall user experience. Battery life that lasts you more than a day, high processing power, impressive camera, and a sleek design. Despite not being a gaming phone, it is able to run high performance games without overheating the phone.
For RM 4,299, it is definitely worth the grab as it offers more than its competitors which are priced around RM 5,000 for similar specifications. The Oppo Find X3 Pro will be available for purchase from the 9th of April 2021 in Oppo retail outlets, or you can pre-order the device here.
