Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 – What is New?

At first glance, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 looks exactly the same as its predecessor. Upon closer inspection however, one would notice the gap (or lack of) at the hinge. Not only it is practically gapless thanks to its revised hinge design, it is also slightly thinner (13.4mm vs 14.2mm) and lighter than the Z Fold4.

When folded, it is still relatively bulky when compared to a normal smartphone, but the weight isn’t that much more than modern flagship, coming at only 253g when compared to 234g on the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold5 now sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset, same as the Galaxy S23 Ultra, and now boasts 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.

The UI/UX also received an update. Now you can run up to 8 apps simultaneously, though your mileage may vary when it comes to managing that many windows at the same time.
Battery & Camera Remains The Same

Powering the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 is a 4,400mAh battery with 25W fast-charging. As with other Samsung phones nowadays, no charger is included in the box. That being said, you can expect improved battery life from the much more efficient Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset.
Also carried over is the triple camera setup. The main shooter sports a 50 megapixel sensor with dual pixel PDAF and OIS. The 10 megapixel telephoto has PDAF and OIS, and is capable of 3X optical zoom. The 12 megapixel ultrawide however, lacks autofocus and OIS, but it does support super steady video.
In terms of selfie cameras, you get two. The one of the cover screen is 10 megapixels, while the one on the main screen is an under-display unit with 4 megapixels.
S Pen Sold Separately

As with its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold5 supports the use of S Pen albeit sold separately. You have two options to choose from, either getting the S Pen on its own for RM219, or a compact Slim S Pen Case which comes with an S Pen for RM399.
