The ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED BAPE Edition has been the talk of the town among the hypebeast community, and for a good reason. A Bathing Ape (BAPE) is one of the early pioneers of the hypebeast subculture, and with this collaboration with ASUS, the result is a laptop that combines powerful performance and style.

Design
The ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED BAPE Edition has adopted a unique take on the usual chassis design. For instance, the lid is adorned with the iconic BAPE camo design along with Baby Milo & Friends mascots engraved via photo-light etching. On the right side of the lid, you will find an emblem with the ASUS Vivobook and A Bathing Ape word mark.
The BAPE treatment does not stop there, as the trackpad is also photo-light etched with the same patterns as the lid. Completing the design is the Baby Milo etching at the bottom right of the keyboard, and one under the chassis.
Lastly, the laptop comes with a unique BAPE themed live wallpaper, and the mascots will appear as the mouse cursor moves past certain areas of the screen.
While the keyboard is largely stock, you do get a BAPE themed keyboard sticker set to decorate each individual keys to your liking. There is also another sticker set that you could stick on the chassis as well.
As part of the bundle, you get matching accessories including the Marshmallow mouse with a choice of two mouse covers, a Baby Milo figurine, and a BAPE themed laptop bag. The accessories come in two colours – Green Camo for Midnight Black and Blue Camo for Cool Silver.
Display
As the name implies, the Vivobook S 15 OLED BAPE Edition adopts ASUS’ brilliant Lumina OLED display. We’ve talked about this display before in previous laptop reviews, and it continues to excel here. The laptop displays vibrant colours and true blacks, earning it a DisplayHDR True Black 600 rating. Coupled with the fast 120Hz refresh rate, and you get a gorgeous HDR display for creative work and entertainment.
Audio
As with most laptops, you get two downward-firing speakers for stereo sound. It actually sounds decent by laptop standards, with a satisfyingly crisp midrange and laid back treble. Mid-bass extension is just alright, however.
Keyboard
The Vivobook S 15 OLED BAPE Edition carries over the same keyboard design found on other Vivobooks, and that is actually a good thing. Each key press feels tactile and consistent, with a satisfying bump at the end of the keystroke. It is backlit too!
Trackpad
Despite the BAPE decorative treatment, the trackpad still felt smooth and responsive. The trackpad placement is logical, and I just love how large it is for ease of use.
Connectivity
The connectivity options found on the ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED BAPE Edition is just alright. You do get all the essentials you need, but its nothing to shout about. The Thunderbolt 4 port do support Power Delivery, so you can use a GaN charger in place of the included power adapter.
Performance
CPU-Z | Multi Thread – 7,390.4 Single Thread – 732.1 |
Cinebench R23 | Multi Core – 12,024 Single Core – 1,679 |
The ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED BAPE Edition comes with a powerful Intel Core i9-13900H processor, and the benchmark results don’t disappoint. Working in tandem is 16GB of LPDDR5 memory and 1TB of M.2 NVMe storage. This results in peppy performance for day to day tasks and some CPU-intensive apps.
With that said, this particular laptop does not come with a discrete GPU, which could limit its versatility especially when it comes to GPU-heavy creative workloads such as Adobe Premiere Pro.
Battery Life
Battery life, while not amazing is quite decent. It managed almost 8 hours of video playback with balanced power settings. You could even stretch the battery to near 10 hours if you reduce screen brightness and use the Best Efficiency power profile.
Final Verdict
Now let’s address the price point. Coming at RM6,499, the ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED BAPE Edition is not too expensive. Yes, it is priced quite high for a Vivobook series laptop, but for the sake of comparison, the Zenbook 14 OLED (UX3404) with the same processor and an RTX3050 GPU costs RM6,999 . On top of that, you get a solid collection of BAPE themed accessories which makes it a decent value for BAPE fans.
To further sweeten the deal, ASUS did not make this a limited edition product, meaning that availability should be sufficient for the most part. All in all, the Vivobook S 15 OLED BAPE Edition is a nice collaboration for hypebeast fans and people who fancy a unique laptop design.
