During a presentation at Sony’s IR Day, Sony Mobile has somewhat confirmed the fact that the company is no longer interested in the Malaysian market. While the confirmation wasn’t a direct mention per say, the below presentation slide does confirm it.
The presentation was done by one of Sony’s Senior Executive Vice President, Shigeki Ishizuka, who is in charge of the company’s Electronics Products & Solutions Business. The IR Day presentation on Smartphone Business Transformation reads as below:
The presentation above, made by Sony Mobile, has shown that it has shifted its marketing and sales attention to only the few countries listed – Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and European countries. Whereas the rest of the world – Malaysia included – are no longer seen as viable markets.
For those who are looking to get themselves a new Sony Xperia smartphone, particularly the Xperia 1 and Xperia 10 that was launched at MWC earlier this year, will have to give up on their hopes.
