We were invited to ASUS Malaysia headquarters to experience the company’s latest laptop lineups, previously unveiled at CES 2023 back in January.
Andrew Chan, the company’s spokesperson had also showcased the company’s laptop innovations for CES 2023, before unveiling the laptops for us to try.
ASUS CES 2023 Laptops On Display
ASUS ProArt Studio 16 3D OLED

The ASUS ProArt Studio 16 3D OLED features the ASUS Spatial Vision stereoscopic 3D technology, allowing users to enjoy 3D content without the need for 3D glasses. It also includes a built-in face tracker to track your head’s position relative to the screen.
It also has a dial that allows you to control creative apps, and a touchpad with haptic feedback. The touchpad supports stylus inputs as well. As laptop geared towards creative professionals, the display is has a 3200 x 2000 pixel resolution, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, and a Delta E < 2 colour accuracy.

You may notice the face cutouts placed beside the laptop. It was meant for cameras to capture the best footage of the 3D display. During my time with the ASUS ProArt Studiobook 16 3D OLED, the face tracking worked well. However, it could get distracted if another person is within its field of view, and ends up tracking that person instead.
ASUS Zenbook Pro 16X OLED Featuring Supernova SoM

Another unique technology they unveiled at CES 2023 was the Supernova SoM (System on Module). It combines the processor and RAM into a single module, which allows for the following benefits:
- Reduces area occupied by CPU and RAM by 38%
- Increases overall cooling efficiency
- Shortens memory traces to CPU
- Improves signal efficiency to boost
- DDR5 RAM speeds up to 7500MHz
- Increases TGP by 15%
The ASUS Zenbook Pro 16X OLED is ASUS’ first laptop equipped with an SoM, which is cooled using Liquid Metal. With this combination, ASUS manages to double the performance of non-SoM Intel 13th generation in AIDA64’s 3D rendering speed.
However, Andrew confirms that as a result of this design, users will not be able to expand the RAM in the future.
ASUS Zenbook Pro 14 OLED (UX6404)

The ASUS Zenbook Pro 14 OLED features a 14.5″ 2.8K 120Hz OLED display with an aspect ratio of 16:10, an upgrade over the previous generation models which feature 90Hz displays with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
It is also equipped with up to Intel Core i9-13900H processor and up to Nvidia Geforce RTX 4070 GPU with MUX switch.
ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED (UX3404)

The ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED’s key feature is the sandstone like finish on the lid, which is what ASUS calls “Plasma Ceramization Anti-fingerprint Coating”. ASUS also claims that the coating is an eco-friendly process, with no harmful emissions during the manufacturing process. It perfectly mimics the feel and touch of ceramics, combined with the cool touch feeling of aluminium alloy underneath.
ASUS Vivobook Pro 16X 3D OLED

The Vivobook Pro 16X 3D OLED is the company’s 16″ laptop offering equipped with the world’s first 16″ 3.2K 120Hz 3D OLED display. Like the ProArt Studio model mentioned earlier, it also has Spatial Vision 3D.
It is also the first laptop to get Anti-Microbial Guard Plus, which the company claims can inhibit 99% viral and bacterial propagation for at least 3 years. ASUS also pledged that this feature will rollout to all ASUS laptops eventually.
ROG CES 2023 Laptops On Display
In addition, ASUS had also shown us a few ROG laptops from their CES 2023 showcase. One key feature was ROG Nebula Display, which aims to deliver better gaming experience over regular displays. You can think of it as ROG’s answer to Retina Displays from Apple, where the displays must fulfill certain criteria in order to be certified as a Nebula Display.
2023 ROG Strix Scar 18

One of the key highlights at the company’s CES 2023 showcase was the ROG Strix Scar 18. It features a large 18″ screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio. Users can configure up to QHD 240Hz Mini-LED displays.

In terms of hardware, you can also configure it with up to Intel Core i9-13980HX, up to Nvidia GeForce RTX4090, and up to 64GB DDR5 4800Mhz RAM.
2023 ROG Zephyrus M16

Another standout laptop from the CES 2023 showcase is the Zephyrus M16, which is the first 16″ laptop with AniMe Matrix. ASUS also managed to squeeze the 16″ display into a 15″ chassis, and it definitely feels more compact than you might think. You can also configure the laptop with up to Intel Core i9-13900H processor and RTX4090.
Final Thoughts
The laptops showcased during the ASUS CES 2023 media tour features some of the company’s latest technology implementations. While our time at the event is short, a few of the technologies stood out to us, namely the Supernova SoM, and ASUS Spatial Vision.
