GWM HAVAL introduced its latest new energy product family at Auto Shanghai 2023 with the world premiere of its medium-sized SUV, dubbed “Fierce Dragon MAX” in the Chinese market.
The SUV is GWM’s first model to feature Hi4 technology, which is the company’s new hybrid technology that combines intelligent features with a four-wheel drive system. The vehicle has a long 2.8-metre wheelbase and an exterior design with more EV features.
GWM Haval Fierce Dragon MAX to Launch in Chinese Market in May 2023
During the launch event, HAVAL’s deputy general manager of marketing, Qiao Xinyu
announced that the Fierce Dragon MAX will be available to the Chinese market from May. The Hi4 technology significantly improves the vehicle’s performance, fuel economy, and reliability.
The Chief Product Officer of HAVAL elaborated on the vehicle’s performance during the auto show, revealing that in a simulated test of real-world scenarios, the SUV’s overall fuel consumption by WLTC standard was only 1.78L/100km, with an
acceleration time of 6.8 seconds from 0 to 100km/h.
The Hi4 technology uses a dual-motor design with both parallel and series connections between the front and rear axles, allowing the vehicle to achieve the performance of a 4WD system and the energy efficiency of a 2WD system. This technology can be combined with the GWM Intelligent Torque Vector Control System (iTVC) and Intelligent Energy Management System to ensure the vehicle’s power system operates efficiently in all speed ranges and scenarios, providing consumers with a powerful performance and lower energy consumption.
Equipped with Hi4, the Fierce Dragon MAX can dynamically switch between nine driving modes to optimally operate in different scenarios, hence reducing energy consumption. At the recent media test drive activity held at GWM’s headquarters in Baoding, various attendees are anticipating its launch in the overseas market soon, having recognised the vehicle’s performance in acceleration and stability and the strength of Hi4 technology.
