Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft are reportedly going to skip the renewed physical E3 2023 event in June, according to IGN.
This comes as no surprised as Sony first skipped the annual event back in 2019, and Nintendo had always hosted its own Nintendo Direct event with great success. While Microsoft Xbox has announced it will be “returning to Los Angeles for its annual summer showcase”, without confirming whether they will be present at E3.
E3 2023 Faces Stiff Competition From Digital Events
Without the three giants of console gaming present, E3 is definitely feeling smaller in scale. Meanwhile, digital events have thrived since the pandemic, such as The Game Awards and Summer Game Fest, hosted by Goeff Keighly. Summer Game Fest will be happening on 8th June, mere days before E3 which will begin at 13th June.
