Building your own gaming PC is an exciting, if not daunting process. Oftentimes people fall into the trap of spending a bit more for better parts, only to end up blowing their budgets.
In this guide, we have curated three different PC builds at different price points, and what kind of gaming performance you can expect from your new gaming PC. Do keep in mind this article does not include peripherals and monitors, only the PC itself.
RM3,000: A Great Foundation
If you only have less than RM3,000 to spend, chances are you will be gaming at 1080p. You will be able to get reasonable frame rates at high or ultra settings, or higher if you dial the settings down to medium to get the best out of your hardware.
A build with this budget focuses on getting the components you need to maximise gaming performance, while saving money on things you don’t need.

AMD Ryzen 5 5600GPU AMD RX 6600 Motherboard Intel: H610M series
AMD: A510M seriesRAM 16GB (8GB X 2) DDR4 Storage 512GB NVME SSD Power Supply 500W 80+ Bronze CPU Cooler Stock cooler PC Case < RM300 case
This configuration is the sweet spot for playing most modern titles at 1080p, while leaving some room for you to expand your RAM, storage and even a new GPU in the future. Both the Intel i5-12400F and AMD Ryzen 5 5600 processors have 6 cores, and are power efficient.
We picked the AMD RX6600 for this gaming PC build, solely because the lack of other options in this price range. Nvidia’s RTX3050 is not a great value, and ray-tracing performance at this price point is not worth it. 16GB of RAM is more than sufficient for most modern titles, and you get the benefit of dual channel memory with two sticks of 8GB RAM.
RM5,000: Brilliant Mid-Range Gaming PC
At RM5000, you can experience high performance across the board. This gaming PC features powerful processors, and better GPUs to handle even the most demanding of titles. You can expect high frame rates even gaming at 1440p ultra settings.

We have omitted 13th gen i7 and Ryzen 7000 processors in this gaming PC build, mainly due to the availability and pricing of motherboards and DDR5 RAM at this point. Once they more common, feel free to swap out the parts for next-gen ones.
RM10,000: Money Is No Object
Do you want to run games at 4K resolution with the highest settings? This gaming PC features the latest generation of processors and GPUs, and you can easily run any title on ultrawide or 4K monitors for the ultimate gaming experience.
