Design
In terms of design, there’s not much changes in this department. Don’t fix what’s not broken, right? The Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Pro still uses the tall, spherical tower design, with the sides on the bottom wrapped with perforated holes for dirty air intake. The new OLED display is placed on the front for easy monitoring, and the output air vents are positioned up top facing upwards.
On the back, that’s where you’ll find the PM2.5/PM10 dual-effect laser sensor. That is also right above the tray slot where the HEPA filter is installed. On the bottom, there’s a round base that is lined with rubber, along with the power port.
There’s not much to shout about the design, except that it looks aesthetically pleasing with the matte white finish. It’ll be easy to place and match it into any living space you’re in.
User Experience

Comparing between the two, I’d say the user experience is somewhat similar, which is good because there’s nothing new or complicated to learn.

Performance And Maintenance
Having three cats at home, that also means three litter boxes. Currently, I’m staying in a 650 sq ft. unit with an open style layout, and these litter boxes mean serious business when it comes to dirt particles and smell. Because I don’t want my cats jumping out of the windows to their deaths, I keep the windows closed 99% of the time.
Having used the Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Pro for a month now, the first thing I realized is a drastic drop in terms of smell. The stench coming from the litter boxes aren’t as strong, and from a distance I don’t smell it that much anymore.
I’ve tried vaping directly and indirectly to the purifier, and it takes less than 3 seconds each time to kickstart the fan and start the purification process. Its response is near instantaneous, and the purification process takes about 10 seconds. For when I’m cooking, even with the cooking hob on, the purifier does a consistent job in purifiying the smoke that escapes the cooking hob. Even after I’m done, it still runs for 10 minutes to ensure the air is truly clean.
The true core of the Xiaomi Smart Air Purifer 4 Pro is its filtration system, and it’s using a three-in-one filter. That consists of the main filter, Xiaomi’s own high-efficiency filter, as well as an activated carbon filter that traps smell. These filters work together to eliminate 99.97% of 0.3μm particles. The OLED display is bright and colours are sharp. At a glance, I could easily tell the air-quality status from the colour indicator bar. It is also placed in an optimum position, where I can see it regardless if I’m standing up or sitting down.
When it coms to maintaining the Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Pro, the usual will suffice. From time to time, give it a good wipe down and vacuum the air vents and perforated holes. Take out the HEPA filter and give it a good brush and vacuum as well. When it’s time to change the filter, simply take it out and replace it with the new one, and you’re good to go for another year.
The top grille is removable by screw, so you can remove it to give the fan blades and air ducts a good clean. The screws also prevents your child from opening or accidentally injuring themselves from the fan blades.
