The Galaxy Watch 4 & Galaxy Buds 2 Are Here And they Look Seriously impressive

Galaxy Ecosystem

The new folding phones were not the only stars of the show at Galaxy Unpacked 2021, as the new Galaxy Watch 4 came in with a bold new look and an even bolder new software refresh. The Galaxy Buds 2 are also not to be overlooked as they are a great entry into Samsungs excellent wireless earbud range.

Galaxy Watch 2

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 marks the beginning of a new chapter for the smartwatch as this is the first watch in its lineup to use Google wear OS, bringing home a bevy of new requested features and improvements that the old Tizen OS just could not provide.

The Galaxy Watch 4 has also seen some significant rebranding with the old “active” name scrapped and the sportier watch acting as the standard model while the more premium model is called Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.

The switch to Wear OS has made the Galaxy Watch a truly android device as it now can function with most android smartphones. The OS also makes the device much less complicated to operate when compared to Tizen, apps are automatically transferred to the watch when they are installed on the phone and the watch itself comes with a built-in store so that you won’t have to rely on your phone for downloads should you not feel like it.

Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic

Speaking of apps, the Galaxy Watch 4 can finally take advantage of Googles smartwatch App suite and use things like a proper Google Maps port, which was something many have been requesting since the first Galaxy watch came out,

The OS switch might be the biggest news but that’s not everything that’s different with this year’s model, the hardware has also seen improvements in literally every category. To start off, the CPU is 20% faster and the RAM even more at 50%. However, this is nothing compared to the GPU which is over 10x faster than the previous generation. These updates make the smartwatch even more responsive and snappier than before.

The main star in the hardware department is the brand new 3in1 BioActive Sensor. This sensor looks to give Apple a run for its money with amazing new functionality such as ECG and Body Composition measurement tools for finding things like skeletal muscle, basal metabolic rate, body water, and body fat percentage. This could be a game-changer for the fitness crowd who usually goes for watches from brands like Garmin as these new tools are invaluable for athletes and exercise enthusiasts.

This year’s Galaxy Watch 4 looks to set a new standard for smartwatches going forward, we still need to do more testing to confirm but if what’s on the box is true then this might be the first real competition for the Apple watch in a long long time.

Galaxy Buds 2

Sleek, lowkey and just the right fit, the new Galaxy Buds 2 are Samsungs new entry-level true wireless earbuds, these were designed to fit into the current Samsung ecosystem seamlessly with support for multiple devices to connect and the Active Noise Cancelling is there to ensure a truly private listening experience.

The Galaxy Buds 2 are for those who want the sound quality of the Galaxy Buds Plus but at less of a premium price, the Buds 2 is trailing the Buds plus in most specs with 5 to 7.5 (ANC on) hours of playback whilst adding a further 20 hours when taking the case into account, while this is much less than the Galaxy Buds Plus, this is also much cheaper and less bulky.

The wireless earbud market is very saturated and it’s easy to get lost in the choices and options, If what you want are simple but functional TWS earbuds with great sound and ANC, the Galaxy Buds 2 is a great deal at a reasonable price!
