Samsung today announced that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 and the Galaxy Z Flip has received a price cut, making it a great time to get in on the foldable smartphone bandwagon. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 will now retail at RM6,999 instead of RM7,999 (RM1,000 off), while the Galaxy Z Flip will be priced at RM3,999.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip
To recap, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor, paired with 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage. Powering the device is a 3,300mAh battery that supports the Wireless PowerShare feature. It also does have fast charging on both wired and wireless modes.
Unfolding the Galaxy Z Flip, it features a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED Infinity Flex display. It is protected by a layer of bendable Ultra Thin Glass, which is a proprietary material from Samsung. When it’s closed, the front has a 1.1-inch Super AMOLED display that shows notifications. It also acts as a viewfinder when taking selfies with the phone’s main camera. On the rear, it features a dual camera setup consisting of:
- 12MP f/1.8 Dual Pixel main sensor
- 12MP ultra-wide angle f/2.4 sensor
- 10MP f/2.4 in-display camera sensor
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2
The Galaxy Z Fold2‘s cover display has now been enlarged to a 6.2-inch HD+ Super AMOLED (2260 x 816) Infinity-O display, while the inner main display has a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex (2208 x 1768) panel with an adaptable 120Hz refresh rate.
Running on Samsung’s proprietary Exynos 990 processor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 is paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 based storage. The device weighs 282g, and has a side mounted fingerprint sensor, as well as facial recognition for authentication.
In the camera department, the rear has a triple camera system consisting of a 12MP ultra-wide angle sensor, a 12MP wide main sensor (Super Speed Dual Pixel AF, OIS), and a 12MP telephoto sensor. In the inner main display, there’s a 10MP sensor in the cutout notch, where the front camera on the cover display will have the same 10MP sensor as well.
In terms of connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 is 5G-enabled, compatible with both Sub6 and mmWave. It also has Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 6 with Ultra Wide Band (UWB), and dual-SIM capabilities – one eSIM and one Nano SIM. Audio wise, the Z Fold2 has a pair of high-dynamic dual speakers, giving it a stereo effect when it comes to media playback.
Despite having two sides to play with, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 only has two batteries making up a total of 4,500mAh capacity battery. It supports fast charging on both wired USB Type-C and wireless charging. On top of that, it also has the same Wireless PowerShare feature found on the Galaxy S20 and Note 20 series.
