Huawei Watch GT3 was just launched by Huawei earlier in October along with Nova 9. We got a review unit from Huawei to see how well it fairs against its pricing. As those whom has been in track of Huawei’s Smartwatches in the past, you would know what the GT series are the premium range among the wearables they have. As much as it is premium, past GT watches are pretty good choices to get considering the features that you get from the device in comparison to its competitors.

Design
As usual, Huawei designs their watches elegantly and classy. The watch features a classic rounded design like traditional watches. Just by changing the watch face design from the app, you can easily match it with any outfit be it for fitness, casual or a formal occasion.
The Huawei Watch GT3 features a 1.42 inches AMOLED display that supports 466 x 466 pixels. The display is framed by a stainless steel matte frame around the curved glass display which gives it a smooth and seamless finishing.
The watch feels comfortable to wear over long hours. However, it feels a little bit hefty and does leave sweat stains on the back of the watch. The watch strap we have is similar to the Huawei Watch Fit/Bands which are hypoallergenic. The size feels about just right on the wrist. As always, the straps are interchangeable if you want to. You can easily unlatch the strap and detach it from the watch body.
On the back of the watch body, you’ll see the health monitoring sensors. On the right of the dial, we have rotary crown on the the top and a button on the bottom to navigate around it’s features.
Health Monitoring Features
The Huawei Watch GT 3 has all-day health monitoring to monitor your heart rate, sleep, stress, SPO2, and skin temperature. By pairing it with the Huawei Health app, you are able to see a report to compare daily health/fitness status. Although it is not as accurate or reliable as professional medial devices, the estimation the Watch GT3 gives is quite enough to know if you need any medical assistance or to keep watch on your health.
Work Out Buddy
The Huawei Watch GT 3 comes with built-in GPS system which enables you to track you outdoor runs and a barometer to track you hikes. Even without bringing your phone along, you are able to retrace your run when you pair the GT3 to the app after your run. It is quite cool to see the distance on real-time map and you can share it to social media from the app to shout-out your achievements to your peers.
Apart from runs and walks, the Huawei Watch GT3 has many workout mode preset in the watch itself. You can select the workouts you do the most to be featured in the workout page to easily track how much time you spend on each work out and the health report on each workout.
The Watch GT 3 has a ATM5 water resistant certification, so you can even wear it to a swim session. You can turn on work-out detection notification and the watch will nudge you to start your session and confirm the workout to start tracking your workout.
You are able to download music to your Watch GT 3 via the Huawei Music App. Even thought the selection is not as wide as Spotify or YT music, it work well enough for me to not bring my phone around when working out. You can pair your fav Bluetooth earbuds to the Watch GT3 and happily workout with your playlist played right to your ears.
Battery life
According to Huawei, the watch battery life would be able to sustain over a week and 14 days on ultra-long battery mode. We have it on high-performance mode and we still have 46% battery left after 5 days. Given the features it supports, I think that the battery life is quite reasonable and enough for a standard user.
The charger for the Huawei Watch GT3 is similar to the previous Watch 3, just snap it on the magnetic charger and you have the battery fully charge in an hour. For those whom has wireless charge lying around, the Watch GT3 is chargeable by wireless charging too. However, it takes longer to fully charge it and its recommended if you don’t have the magnetic charger with you or just need a fast charge for short use.
Conclusion
The Huawei Watch GT3 is definitely a great companion for daily life and fitness buddy. While reviewing the watch, I did made my dad to wear it and go around his day with it. He loved the comfortability and the design. “Classy and easy to match” is his exactly words. While showing him how the watch tracked his morning walks, it left him in awe.
While he had a fitness watch that he has been wearing for a while now, the features on the Watch GT3 amazed him as well as how the price fares against the one he has right now. For many competitor’s smartwatches, as much as the price you are paying is quite pricey, some limits the feature and are more invested in outlooks. While for those whom own a iPhone, no worries, you can pair the Watch GT3 to your iPhone just by downloading the app from App Store. Unlike the Apple Watch not being able to pair with devices apart from iPhones.
The only downside to the watch would be the weight it gives off on the wrist. As much as it is comfortable to wear texture wise, your wrist gets tired after a day of wear due to the weight on it.
Priced at RM 999, the price is actually worth getting given the features it has. For those whom are looking for something more budget with more basic features can consider the Huawei Band series.
It is now available on Shopee, Lazada and Huawei Online Store.
