The time has arrived, and the Genshin Impact 2.0 update is finally upon us. Announced officially by Mihoyo for the first time ever on their official Twitch channel, the Genshin Impact 2.0 update will take place on the 21st of July 2021. And yes, Mihoyo is skipping v1.7, v1.8, and v1.9, jumping straight into a major update called 2.0.
Genshin Impact 2.0 Update – The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia
The long awaited Genshin Impact 2.0 update is the one prior to the anniversary update which is in September, and it brings a whole new region in Teyvat – Inazuma (based on Japan), along with new characters like Kamisato Ayaka, Yoimiya, Sayu, and more.
The Version 2.0 update will also include more new features to enhance player experience, including the long-awaitedcross-save function across PlayStation®, PC, and mobile. Meanwhile, more refined character shading, Haptic Feedback support for the PlayStation®5 DualSense Controller, and more feature optimizations will be added to the game to deliver a richer visual andtactile experience to players.
The story continues from where the Traveler has met Kazuha at Beidou’s Crux challenge. Traveler finally finds a way to travel to Inazuma. Of course, with the update, travelers will also be getting infused with the Electro vision, giving us Electro powers and skills.
New Region – Inazuma
Inazuma is the latest region where the Traveler continues his journey, which in real life is based on the country of the rising sun, Japan. Unlike Mondstadt and Liyue, Inazuma is surrounded by the sea on all sides and consists of six main islands, often accompanied by a strong sea breeze and thunderstorms.Although Inazuma is greatly affected by fleeting lightning and the Electro element, the Electro Archon who rules the area has turned to the pursuit of eternity.
Throughout the adventure in Inazuma, players will be able to explore the unique cultural landscapes, stories, secrets, and historical connections to Inazuma and the Electro Archon on each of the different islands, as well as the answers to eternity from the Electro Archon herself.
New Archon Quest – Chapter II, Act I
In Genshin Impact 2.0 update, all we know about the new Archon Quest is that it will be the first Act in Chapter II, but no preview or information of the story has been revealed in the livestream. We’ll have to find out for ourselves when the update goes live on 21st July 2021.
New Characters
Kamisato Ayaka
Kamisato Ayaka is a long awaited character, being in the beta since the beginning, and she’s now finally joined the game as a playable character. She’s a 5-stay sword user who wields the cryo vision, and yes, she is indeed from the land of Inazuma. The daughter of the Yashiro Commission’s Kamisato Clan, is often conceived as dignified, elegant, wise, and strong by the locals.
Yoimiya
Yoimiya is also a new character that will debut in the same version update as Ayaka. She is a 5-star bow user who has the pyro element. A new 5-star bow will also debut with her banner, as her signature weapon. Known as the “Queen of the Summer Festival,” Yoimiya excels in her craft of creating fireworks that symbolize people’s hopes and dreams.
Sayu
Sayu is the latest 4-star to join Genshin Impact, she is a small-sized claymore user who wields the anemo vision.
Non-Playable Characters (Yet)
Right off the bat, we have the Electro Archon herself – Baal. Also known as the Raiden Shogun, she is the archon who pursues eternity, and is purging her people of their vision. She will be the main archon in this version update, obviously.
Of course in Genshin Impact 2.0 update, we also get other Inazuman characters include (left to right) Yae Miko, Gorou, Kokomi, Kujou Sara, and Tohma.
New Bosses And Monsters
Traveling a new region, you’re sure to meet Inazuman monsters, mobs, and bosses as well. First of all, there’s a new Ruin series monster called the Ruin Sentinel, which can take on different forms to engage in battle with you. Next up, there are the ronins of different elements. Pictured below are the pyro and electro ronins.
Of course, Inazuma will also be a land where the Fatui lurks around. Meet the Mirror Maiden, who uses the hydro element in her attacks. Her attacks are of a more complicated pattern, making her totally different from the electro and cryo cicin mages.
When it comes to bosses, we get two new and one existing bosses. These bosses are redeemable with 40 original resins, after defeating them. First, we have the Pyro Hypostasis, the Perpetual Mechanical Array, as well as the current Maguu Kenki, who will find his new home in Inazuma.
These new bosses are crucial as they will drop the new materials needed for Inazuman character’s leveling up and ascension. That being said, it also means we cannot pre-farm for Ayaka, Yoimiya, or even Sayu, and will have to wait until the update drops to start farming for these characters.
New Events
In Genshin Impact 2.0 update, there are lesser events than before as travelers will spend most of their time doing the archon, world quests, as well as exploring Inazuma. In “Thunder Sojourn”, players will be able to participate in the challenge, and earn themselves a free copy of Beidou, along with primogems and etc.
Theather Mechanicus will also be making a comeback, this time titled “Theather Mechanicus: Stage of Wonders”. The new version of the game will include new mechanicus, new monsters, and more. Apart from that, Leyline Overflow will be back to give players three daily chances of redeeming double the leyline rewards.
We will also see familiar past events making a return, including Phantom Flow – a fighting challenge, as well as Lost Riches – a hunting event to track down coins to exchange for prizes. In Lost Riches, players will be able to redeem for a free Seelie, choice from the current three colours – Rose, Curcuma, Dayflower, and now, a new Seelie variant joins the fray – Viola (Violet, purple-coloured).
Serenitea Pot System (Update)
The Serenitea Pot system will be getting some updates as well. Travelers will receive a new item in their inventory called the Seed Dispensary. This will allow you to harvest seeds when you pick up plants from the world of Teyvat. e.g. picking up Mint, will also give you Mint seeds.
From there, you can bring those seeds and plant them in your Serenitea Pot. Of course, you’ll need to purchase plant beds to plant these seeds, and they will be able to harvest approximately 2 to 3 days later.
Apart from that, Serenitea Pot system will be getting its load increased, so players will be able to add more furnishing, and more decor into the Serenitea Pot.
New Banners
Kamisato Ayaka will be the first featured banner in Genshin Impact 2.0 update, arriving on the 21st of July 2021. Right after Ayaka’s banner, it is Yoimiya’s time for her official debut alongside the new 4-star claymore character, Sayu!

New Weapon Banner Mechanic – “Epitomized Path”
Epitomized Path is a wish mechanic in “Epitome Invocation.” Travelers can chart a course towards a specific 5-star promotional weapon they hope to obtain.
·Once you have charted a course towards your chosen weapon, you will obtain 1 Fate Point upon receiving a 5-star weapon that is not the one that you chose. You can obtain a maximum of 2 Fate Points.
·Once you’ve reached the maximum amount of Fate Points, the next 5-star weapon you choose will be the one you have chosen through Epitomized Path.
·When you obtain the chosen weapon in Epitome Invocation through Epitomized Path, the accumulated Fate Points will be cleared.
·If you do not use Epitomized Path to obtain a weapon, you will not accumulate Fate Points.
·The charted course towards a certain weapon can be changed or cancelled. However, after doing so, any current Fate Points will be cleared.
·At the end of the current period of Epitome Invocation, any current Fate Points will be cleared.
Example: The 5-star weapons Skyward Pride and Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds are the promotional weapons of Epitome Invocation.
You chart a course towards Skyward Pride. After wishing, if the first 5-star weapon obtained is Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds, you will receive 1 Fate Point. However, if you obtain Skyward Pride after wishing, you will not accumulate any Fate Points.
After charting a course towards Skyward Pride, if the first and second 5-star weapon obtained are Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds, and 2 Fate Points are accumulated, the third 5-star weapon obtained is guaranteed to be Skyward Pride.
After Skyward Pride is obtained, the Fate Points will be cleared. If you have charted a course towards Skyward Pride, and have accumulated Fate Points, those Fate Points will be cleared if you want to change course or cancel altogether.
After the Version 2.0 update, core information about wishes can be obtained by clicking on the Details button in the lower left corner of the wish screen.
