The Dota 2 arena has seen millions of players battling it out for fame and fortune, and it is today that Valve is expanding the Dota universe. In collaboration with Netflix, the company has announced “Dragon’s Blood”, an anime series that will arrive on Netflix this coming 25th March 2021.
“Dota: Dragon’s Blood” Anime Series

Dota: Dragon’s Blood will be an animated series, and it will have a total of 8 episodes. The series is produced by Ashley Edward Miller, who is also known for X-Men: First Class, Thor and Black Sails. For the animation, it will be animated by Studio MIR, who were in charge of The Legend of Korra and Voltron: Legendary Defender.

The first announcement trailer has been released on YouTube, which you can watch below. Netflix has released a schedule for the teaser trailer to premiere on the 19th of February, the main trailer on the 2nd of March, and the series premiere to take place on the 25th March 2021.
Storyline wise, the story follows the encounters with a powerful, ancient eldwurm as well as the noble Princess Mirana on a secret mission of her own. Davion, the renowned Dragon Knight, becomes embroiled in events much larger than he could have ever imagined. Here is the synopsis as provided by Netflix:
“The sweeping fantasy series tells the story of Davion, a renowned Dragon Knight devoted to wiping the scourge from the face of the world. Following encounters with a powerful, ancient eldwurm as well as the noble Princess Mirana on a secret mission of her own, Davion becomes embroiled in events much larger than he could have ever imagined.”

Dota players, are you excited for the new series? This will definitely expand the Dota universe, but we feel they could’ve done more with a higher production value. Only time will tell if the series will be any good to live up to the game.
