Acer Malaysia today officially announced the arrival of the Acer Nitro 5 AMD with Nvidia GeForce RTX 3000 series GPUs, as well as the new Acer Nitro QG1 series monitor that features 165Hz native refresh rate.

The Acer Nitro 5 AMD is powered by AMD’s latest Zen 3-based 5000 series CPUs, ranging from the Ryzen 5 5600H, to the Ryzen 7 5800H, and up to the Ryzen 9 5900HX chip. In terms of graphics, something never seen before on an Acer Nitro series laptop, is the addition of Nvidia GeForce’s RTX 3000 series GPUs. Depending on the variant, this ranges from the lowest end Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 all the way to a GeForce RTX 3080 with 8GB GDDR6.

For its display, they all have the same 15.6-inch screen size, with the difference being its resolution, refresh rate, and colour space coverage. The most basic model still has a FHD 144Hz refresh rate and an IPS panel, while the mid-range variant has an additional 72% NTSC coverage. The highest end variant gets you a smoother 165Hz refresh rate and a 100% coverage of the sRGB space.

When it comes to RAM, there are two options to choose from – 8GB 3,200MHz DDR4 RAM (upgradable to 2 x 16GB), or the 16GB 3,200MHz DDR4 RAM (upgradable to 2 x 16GB). Storage wise, the Acer Nitro 5 can be fitted with up to 1TB of PCIe NVMe SSD, with an additional HDD slot (upgrade kit included).

In terms of connectivity, the Acer Nitro 5 supports Intel Wireless Wi-Fi 6 AX200, as well as Bluetooth 5.0, and Killer Ethernet E2600. For the I/O ports, all variants have the same:

  • 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1
  • 1 x USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 2 (Up to 10Gbps)
  • 1 x HDMI 2.1 Port with HDCP
  • 3.5mm Audio Jack Combo

There’s also a 720p HD webcam built-in, with the laptop measuring 2.39cm thin and weighing 2.2KG. The laptop does come with 2 years local warranty, with the first year being an international warranty.

The Acer QG241YP gaming monitor features a 23.8-inch FHD VA panel, complete with a 165Hz refresh rate, HDR10 support, and 1ms VRB response time. It has a 250nits max brightness, with a 100 million:1 max contrast ratio, and covers 72% of the NTSC colour space.

Connectivity wise, it has a HADMI 1.4 port, a HDMI 2.0 port, a DisplayPort, SPK, Audio Out. The monitor only allows i5 to 20-degrees of tilting, but it does have VESA mount support. On top of having AMD FreeSync technology built in, the monitor also has a suite of Acer’s protective comfort technology – Flicker-less, BlueLightShield, low dimming technology, and ComfyView display.

Pricing And Availability

In terms of pricing, the Acer Nitro 5 will start from RM3,699 and can go up to RM8,999 for the highest end model. Pre-order begins today with the GTX variants (AN515-45-R9RJ and AN515-45-R7QR) on Shopee, and starting tomorrow on Lazada. Both pre-orders will end on the 16th of April 2021.

For the Acer QG241YP gaming monitor, it will be sold for RM749, but during launch, it will be sold for just RM699 from the 14th to 16th of April.
