Xiaomi today announced the MI TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition Smart TV, which is also the world’s first mass-produced transparent TV. Announced in conjunction with the company’s 10th year anniversary launch event, the MI TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition has a starting price of CNY 49,999.
Xiaomi MI TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition
The MI TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition has an edge-to-edge transparent OLED self-luminous display that transmit images to make them seem as if they were suspended in the air. When turned off, the display looks just like any normal glass. To achieve this, Xiaomi moved the entire processing units from the back panel down into the base stand.
Xiaomi has also become the world’s first mass producer of transparent OLED TVs, as well as China’s number one OLED Basic Module (OBM) manufacturer. That means Xiaomi is currently the only TV brand in China capable of individually handling the mass production process of a product as complex as Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition.
Specs wise, the TV has a 55-inch transparent OLED panel that has a 150000:1 static contrast ratio and an infinite dynamic contrast ratio. This gives the viewers extra rich blacks and better brightness. It also supports 93% of the DCI-P3 colour spectrum, complete with a 10-bit panel that displays 1.07 billion colour combinations. Additionally, the Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition also has a 120Hz refresh rate and 120Hz MEMC technology, which gives a smoother and clearer motion visuals. To top it off, it even has a 1ms response rate, so you can game even better on it.
Just like its predecessor, it comes packed with AI Master Smart Engine, along with MediaTek’s custom-made TV chip, the MediaTek 9650. On top of the inclusion of Dolby Atmos, AI Master also supports audio where it can automatically detect the type of content playing and would choose the fitting audio profile for it.
Its body is only a 5.7mm ultra-thin rectangular body, with a round base on the bottom. The base itself has a millimeter-grade finish to give it that extra luxurious look. Running on a custom-made MIUI for TVs, the TV has a revamped home page, settings, and My App for a better user experience. Not only that, the TV also supports Always-On display.
