Sony has, rather surprisingly, mentioned that it expects to release more of its first-party games on PC. The company made this announcement in its 2020 corporate report. This is indeed rather surprising given how the company was once known to be ‘protective’ of its first-party games, such as not wanting them to be released outside of the PlayStation ecosystem.
Sony Expects to Release more First-Party Games to PC
In its 2020 corporate report, Sony stated that “We will explore expanding our 1st party tittles to the PC platform, in order to promote further growth in our profitability.” Whilst the second part of that sentence is to be expected from a business, the first part of the statement is what will no doubt make a majority of PC gamers very happy.
That being said, it’s still far too early to know which first-party games the console giant is planning to port over to the PC platform. Then again, with the recent release of Horizon Zero Dawn on PC, it is likely that the company will be looking to bring more ‘triple A’ games to the PC—like Bloodborne, for example. Nevertheless, Sony’s announcement is indeed an exciting one; hopefully we’ll get to these games sooner rather than later.
