Samsung has officially unveiled the much-anticipated Galaxy Z Fold2 foldable smartphone. The announcement came alongside the launch of the Galaxy Note 20 smartphones, Galaxy Buds Live, Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Tab S7 series, during the company’s recent Galaxy Unpacked event.

The new Galaxy Z Fold2 now comes with a larger external display (folded), which measures in at 6.2-inches. Unlike the older Galaxy Fold, the screen on the new Galaxy Z Fold2 covers the entire front of the phone. The main screens (unfolded), on the other hand, have also been made bigger at 7.6 inches (120Hz refresh rate). Interestingly, When it comes to processor, the Z Fold2 comes with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ SoC.
In addition, the cameras on this foldable smartphone have also been improved. It features a triple rear camera system: wide, telephoto and ultrawide—all of which are 12MP. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold2 is equipped with a 10MP (wide) front/selfie camera as well. Interestingly, Samsung have opted for the hole-punch camera design this time round for the Galaxy Z Fold2 (front screen).
Moreover, the new Samsung foldable smartphone features a battery capacity of 4,500mAH, which supports 25W wired fast charging and 11W wireless charging. Finally, users will be able to chose from two different colour options for the Galaxy Z Flip2: “Mystic Black” and “Mystic Bronze.”
Samsung stated that it will have more to announce with regards to the Galaxy Z Fold2 in early September, which is also when pre-orders will be open (in select countries). There is currently no announcement by the company regarding pre-orders and availability date for the new foldable smartphone in Malaysia at the time of writing.
