“Never before have we relied on technology like we are today. It’s how we are staying connected as we navigate the extraordinary challenges faced around the world,” “Technology must make life easier, not more complex. That’s why we have introduced five new power devices. Alone, these devices are powerful tools to help you maximize work and play. Together, as part of the Galaxy ecosystem, they work together seamlessly so you can spend your time focused on what matters most.”Dr. TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics.
There are two variants to the Galaxy Note 20 series – Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Both these devices run on the Exynos 990 chipset, have a triple camera system, 256GB of base storage (expandable via microSD up to 1TB), a 10MP selfie camera, complete with IP68 rating for water and dust protection.
What are the differences? Let’s start with the Note 20.
Galaxy Note 20
The Galaxy Note 20 will be available in two variants – 4G and 5G versions. It has a 6.7-inch flat FHD+ Super AMOLED Plus display. It is HDR10+ certified, and it has an Infinity-O notch right in the top center section of the phone. It weighs 192g and has 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM.
On the rear, there is a 64MP telephoto main sensor, a 12MP wide-angle sensor, and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor. It does feature Space Zoom, with 3x hybrid optic zoom, up to 30x super resolution zoom, and OIS built-in.
Connectivity wise, both the 4G and 5G version will have Wi-Fi 6, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, as well as USB Type-C.
Being a smaller device, it has a 4,300mAh battery that supports Fast Wireless Charging 2.0, Wireless PowerShare, and USB PD 3.0. Also, the Note 20 runs on Android 10 with Samsung OneUI 2.5 right out of the box.
Galaxy Note 20 Ultra
As for the larger brother – the Note 20 Ultra, it will come with 5G (sub6 and mmWave) by default. It has a larger 6.9-inch edge QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display that is also HDR10+ certified. It will also have an Infinity-O notch, but it is slightly heavier at 208g and it comes with more amount of RAM at 12GB LPDDR5.
Just like the standard Note 20, the Ultra has a triple camera system too. But it consists of a 108MP Wide-angle main sensor, 12MP ultra-wide sensor, a 12MP telephoto sensor, and a laser AF sensor. Space zoom is featured with 5x optical zoom, OIS, as well as a further 50x super resolution zoom as compared to the Note 20.
The camera’s video recording capabilities have also been upgraded to have 8K recording and 21:9 cinematic aspect ratio. Apart from that, you can now enjoy smoother zooming, and the ability to select your recording source from the tri-microphone system available on the phone.
The Note 20 Ultra does have a larger screen, so there is space for a larger 4,500mAh battery. It supports Fast Wireless Charging 2.0, Wireless PowerShare, and USB PD 3.0.
