At CES 2020, Sony has finally unveiled the Playstation 5… Logo. It might not be the full console we’re seeing, but the company did mention when the new console will arrive – “Holiday 2020”.
Holiday 2020 also refers to the months of October and November of 2020. The Playstation 5 logo looks and feels similar to the PS4 logo, and there’s nothing else to it. Apart from the official unveiling of the logo and a release period, we still don’t even get a glimpse of how the design of the Playstation 5 will look like.
On another note, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has announced that PlayStation™Network’s (PSN) December 2019 monthly active users have reached 103 million. This shows how many users are subscribing to the PSN service, mostly thanks to the free games they are offering, which are pretty good titles. For January 2020, they’re even offering Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Goat Simulator 2.
On top of that, sales of the PS4 has been reported to exceed over 106 million units globally. In total with the sales of PS4 software titles from retailers and the Playstation Store, it has reached a whopping 1.15 billion as of the 31st of December 2019.

“I am very pleased to see that so many PlayStation fans value the unparalleled entertainment experience on PS4. This has been made possible by the support we have from our partners and fans since launching PlayStation in 1994, and I would like to truly thank everyone. We’ve consistently delivered innovative products like PlayStation VR, which has reached its 5 million unit sales milestone. There is much more entertainment experience to look forward to that the PlayStation ecosystem will provide that we can’t wait to share with our fans.”
Jim Ryan, President and CEO of SIE.
It’s been 7 years we’ve bonded with the PS4. With amazing titles coming up like The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima, SIE looks to have a few more interesting game titles for 2019. That should be enough to keep us entertained while we wait for the official unveiling of the Playstation 5.
