Sony has made the announcement that its Playstation 5 Event which was supposed to happen on the 5th of June, is now delayed. This announcement came in response to the protests that have been going on in the United States.
Playstation 5 Event
The company’s announcement was made on Facebook and Twitter. Even saying the event is delayed, Sony didn’t give a replacement date as to when the event will resume. This means that the unveiling of the PS5 to the world is delayed indefinitely. The company mentioned that now isn’t a time for celebration, and this is to allow more important voices to be heard.
George Floyd, passed away in custody last week as a result of police officer, Derek Chauvin, kneeling on his neck. One of the passerby recorded a video of the arrest, with Floyd saying multiple times that he couldn’t breathe. The arrest was allegedly done over a case of counterfeit money. Since then, protest after protest has cropped up over Floyd’s death.
Kudos and mad props to Sony for delaying the event. There are more important things happening in the world right now, and gamers around the world can wait, because we’re sure it’ll be worth it.
