Sony has just announced the date of availability of its PlayStation 5 consoles. According to the company’s announcement, both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition will be made available starting 19th November. Moreover, the company mentioned that the PlayStation 5 will come with a price tag of US$500 (about RM2,065), while the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition is priced slightly lower at US$400 (around RM1,652).
PlayStation 5 Available Starting 19th November

The PlayStation 5 consoles’ availability and pricing announcement by Sony will undoubtedly excite fellow console gamers and Sony fans. Interestingly, The pricing for the PlayStation 5 (disc edition) is somewhat similar to the Xbox Series X, which is priced at US$499. That being said, the PlayStation 5 Digital edition is priced about US$100 more compared to the Xbox Series S (retail price of US$299). That being said, the difference in pricing is justifiable from Sony’s point of view because gamers aren’t getting a ‘slower’ version of the PS5 with the Digital Edition—unlike the Xbox Series S, which is said to be slower compared to the Series X.

Oddly, the release date for both PlayStation 5 consoles varies between countries. Sony mentioned that countries like the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea will have an earlier release date of 12th November; while the consoles would only be released to the rest of the world starting 19th November (subject to local import regulations, of course). Those aside, it’ll be interesting to see the pricing for both PS5 consoles here in Malaysia. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on this should there be any announcements from Sony Malaysia in the coming days; so, stay tuned!
