With less than a few weeks to go before its big event, Nvidia has just released an 8 minute-long video highlighting a new design philosophy for its upcoming RTX 30 series graphics cards. The aforementioned video gives us a glimpse into what Nvidia’s RTX 30 series cards may look like—albeit a bit on the technical side of things.
Nvidia Publishes Teaser Video on RTX 30 Series Design
It should be noted that Nvidia did not specifically showcase the upcoming RTX 30 series graphics cards in its video. Rather, the video comprises of technical details of the ‘new’ design choices which will be employed for the company’s upcoming graphics cards. Despite this, there were a few instances in the video where the company did hint at a brand new graphics card design.
One key takeaway from the aforementioned video by Nvidia is the fact that at least one RTX 30 series graphics card will come equipped with a 12-pin power connector. For those who are wondering, the new power connector configuration will still be compatible with existing 8-pin power cables; Nvidia will be including an adapter with its new graphics cards to ensure this compatibility.
That said, we do expect this power connector configuration to only be found on Nvidia’s Founders Edition graphics cards. Third party graphics card manufacturers may likely stick to the traditional power connector configuration instead. Another interesting fact shown in the video is the fact that Nvidia’s new graphics card will come with an ‘irregular’ PCB shape as well.
Throughout the video, Nvidia continuously made strong emphasis on having thermal design efficiency. Therefore, it may be likely that the company’s upcoming graphics cards will be relatively cooler compared to previous RTX cards. Nonetheless, Nvidia’s recent video does indeed indicate towards having radical changes to its graphics card design—whether it will be worth it, we’ll soon find out.
