It’s finally official, folks. Nvidia has just announced its newest lineup of Ampere-based GeForce graphics cards: RTX 3090, RTX 3080 and RTX 3070. The announcement was made by Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, during the company’s ‘special’ livestream event.
GeForce RTX 3090
The most powerful graphics card of the three would be the RTX 3090. This graphics card is equipped with the ‘big’ Ampere GA102-300 GPU. Specifications-wise, the RTX 3090 feature 10,496 CUDA Cores, 24GB GDDR6X memory (384-bit) and an eye-watering 19.5Gbps memory clock speed. Moreover, this graphics card is capable of churning out boost clock speeds of 1.7GHz, along with an FP32 performance of 35.7 TFLOPS.
Finally, the RTX 3090 also has a TDP rating of 350W; which is somewhat high, but this is to be expected from a high-performance graphics card. For those who may be interested, the RTX 3090 comes with a price tag of US$1,499 (about RM6,209).
GeForce RTX 3080
The other high-end Ampere graphics card announced by Nvidia is the RTX 3080, which is powered by the GA102-200 GPU. It features 8,704 CUDA Cores, 10GB GDDR6X memory (320-bit), along with a memory clock speed of 19Gbps. This graphics card features 1.71GHz boost clock speed, 29.7 TFLOPS of FP32 performance and a TDP rating of 320W.
Whilst the RTX 3090 is aimed more towards PC enthusiasts with ‘deep pockets’, the RTX 3080, on the other hand, is more moderate when it comes to pricing. Nvidia mentioned that the RTX 3080 will be priced at US$699 (around RM2,895).
GeForce RTX 3070
The least powerful (but still capable) graphics card announced by Nvidia is the RTX 3070. This graphics card is equipped with the GA104-300 GPU, which features 5,888 CUDA Cores and 8GB GDDR6 memory. In addition, the RTX 3070 is cable of boost clock speeds of 1.73GHz and 20.4 TFLOPS of FP32 performance. Finally, this graphics card has a significantly lower TDP rating of 220W.
It is very likely that the RTX 3070 will be the graphics card that most gamers will be aiming to buy given its relatively decent specifications and pricing. Speaking of which, the RTX 3070 comes with a price tag of US$499 (approximately RM2,067).
