It looks like we’re getting closer to the unveiling of Nvidia’s upcoming Ampere-based consumer graphics cards. The graphics giant has released a mysterious teaser titled “Ultimate Countdown” which mentions “21 Days. 21 Years.” This could possibly be a start to a series of teasers that will be released by the company in the coming weeks.

So, what could “21 Days. 21 Years” possibly mean? At this point, we can only hypothesise that perhaps Nvidia is pointing towards the year 1999 (21 years ago), which is also the date in which the company had released its GeForce 256 graphics card. Meanwhile, 21 days from when the teaser was released points to 31st August, which could indicate the planned launch date for Ampere-based gaming graphics cards.
Another interesting guess made by other sources is 21 (days, years) multiplied by 256 (GeForce GPU), equals to 5,376. This number may indicate the amount of CUDA cores which will be featured on one of Nvidia’s Ampere-based GPU. For those who aren’t aware: Nvidia’s current TU102 GPU, which powers the RTX 2080 Ti, has 4,352 CUDA cores; so upcoming Ampere-based GPUs may be significantly more powerful compared to Turing-based GPUs.
Those aside, we’re indeed excited to see what Nvidia has to offer for PC gamers and enthusiasts in the coming weeks. Hopefully, the speculated 31 August release date turns out to be true. Either way, we’ll be sure to keep you informed with the latest information from the company when an official announcement is released.
