No Delays for AMD’s Upcoming Major Processors

No Delays for AMD's Upcoming Major Processors 5

It looks like AMD isn’t facing any major issues when it comes to manufacturing its upcoming lineup of processors (unlike Intel). The company’s CEO, Lisa Su, stated that major processors such as the custom Zen 2 chip used in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, 7nm Zen 3 CPUs and RDNA 2 GPUs will ship on time and are scheduled to be released sometime in 2020.

AMD on Track to Deliver Upcoming Major Processors in 2020

AMD

The announcement by Lisa Su was made during the company’s Q2 2020 earnings call. Knowing this, it will come as no surprise to see the red company’s stock value rise higher in the coming months. As for us consumers, this announcement comes as great news as there will be more AMD-based products coming later this year—especially the next-generation consoles.

On the flip side, Intel’s recent announcement about delays for its 7nm-based processors means that AMD will have a major advantage in the general consumer-facing CPU market, for now. It’ll be interesting, however, to see just how well the company’s RDNA 2-based GPUs will perform against Nvidia’s upcoming RTX offerings. Either way, it seems that 2020 isn’t so bleak after all.
