Surface Duo

Microsoft has finally revealed the release date and pricing for its highly-anticipated dual-screen phone called the Surface Duo. The device was first unveiled by Microsoft back in October 2019. This time round, the company mentioned that the device will be made available for purchase starting from 10th September.

Specifications-wise, the Surface Duo will be equipped with two 5.6-inch OLED displays, along with an 11-megapixel f/2.0 camera. Interestingly, this dual-screen device comes fitted with only a single camera. Additionally, the foldable device also features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 processor, 6GB RAM, and up to 256GB storage.

Another notable feature of the Surface Duo is the fact that it comes with dual batteries. Oddly, the total capacity of these batteries combined only amounts to 3,577mAH. That being said, Microsoft did claim the its newest device is capable of up to 15.5 hours of ‘local’ video playback time, 10 days standby time and 27 hours of talk time. As expected, the Microsoft Surface Duo will indeed run on Android, and apps will run natively without modification.

As with devices and phones that come with a new ‘concept’, the pricing also reflects this leap in innovation. Likewise, the Surface Duo comes with a rather hefty price tag of US$1,399 (about RM5,856). It’s still not known whether this device will be made available official here in Malaysia. Regardless, we’ll be sure to keep you updated should there be any announcements from Microsoft Malaysia in the coming weeks.
