Lenovo has added two new devices to its Legion lineup. First, is the Lenovo Legion Y740S gaming laptop, and the other is an eGPU enclosure, called the Legion BoostStation eGPU. These Legion devices are expected to be launched into the market in the first half of 2020.

The Lenovo Legion Y740S is marketed as a gaming laptop, but it doesn’t have a dedicated graphics card. We believe it’s because it’s meant to be used with the BoostStation eGPU, but we’ll get to that later. By removing the graphics component, the company claims the laptop to be its thinnest and lightest gaming laptop yet. It measures in at 0.58-inches thin with a weight of 1.9KG.

The Lenovo Legion Y740S laptop runs on an Intel 10th generation Core i9 H-series processor, paired with up to 32GB of RAM, and storage of up to 1TB via a PCIe SSD. As for its display, users have to choose between a 1080p or 4K display on a 15.6-inch panel with 60Hz refresh rate. Powering the device is a rather large 60Wh battery.

Connectivity wise, the Legion Y740S has two USB 3.,1 Gen 2 ports, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, an SD card reader, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The Thunderbolt 3 ports are obviously to be used with the Legion BoostStation eGPU enclosure for better graphics performance.

Next up, we have the Legion BoostStation eGPU enclosure. The casing is made out of aluminium and it supports graphic cards of up to 330mm in length, and it even has a USB hub that consists of two USB 3.1 ports as well as an Ethernet port. There is a side panel for you to peek into, and it weighs a hefty 9.07KG.

Lenovo has also mentioned that operating the BoostStation is easy as it is 100% tool-free, has super-fast charging, and supports mixed reality (AR and VR) features. The company will be selling the BoostStation separately, with plans of bundling it with NVIDIA and AMD GPUs in the future.
