Lenovo’s new ThinkPad X1 Carbon is equiiped with Intel’s latest 10th generation “Comet Lake” processors. The base model comes with the Intel i5-10210U chip, with optional upgrades available including additions to the X1 Carbon line, brand-new 10th-Gen Intel i5 and i7 processors reinforced with vPro to provide enhanced security.
Powering the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 8 is a 51W 4-cell Li-Polymer battery which Lenovo claims can give the laptop up to 18 hours of battery life. With the the company’s proprietary Rapid Charge feature, an hour’s charge can get the laptop juiced back up to 80% to keep you going.
The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 8 is also packed with always-on responsiveness with sleep-to-wake times in under a second. Apart from that, it also has Wi-Fi 6 connectivity.
The laptop also sports a redesigned keyboard layout that offers users quick access to answer and end video calls, or mute and unmute the mic at the touch of a button. There’s also a 360-degree microphone for noise-cancelling on calls, and distance sensing recording. With the microphone, users can also wake the system via voice activation.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 8 retains Lenovo’s ThinkShield security solutions to offer the highest standards in protection of business data and privacy. The device’s unrivaled protection starts first with its proprietary PrivacyGuard display, an innovative electronic privacy filter that decreases the screen’s angle of vision. For devices with the optional IR camera, PrivacyGuard works hand-in-hand with PrivacyAlert, an integrated software that monitors and identifies prying eyes users never have to worry about nosy onlookers again.

As light as it may be, the device is by no means fragile. The new ThinkPad X1 Carbon is certified with the MIL-STD spec rating, meaning it has been tested with 12 military-grade requirements and over 200 quality checks ensuring its suitability for even the most extreme conditions.
Enhanced Immersion
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 8 is also a multimedia powerhouse. It comes fitted with the highly coveted Dolby Atmos® Speaker System, offering rich audio immersion with custom-built and tuned Dolby speakers.
The device also offers a number of 14” display options, starting from the baseline FHD IPS 400nits options, and followed by the FHD IPS LP Touch 400nits display, upgraded from 300nits in the previous X1 Carbon model. Another improved option is the FHD IPS ePrivacy 500nits display, now with touchscreen capabilities and upgraded from 400nits in the previous Gen 7 model. These displays all come with Dolby Vision and HDR400 certification, ensuring best-in-class imaging to match its immersive audio experience.
