Intel to Showcase “Something Big” on 2 September

Intel

Intel has just released a teaser for its upcoming event, which will take place on 2 September 2020. The company, in its teaser, have said that they “have something big to share.” Our best guess is that the chipmaker will be looking to unveil its 11th Gen ‘Tiger Lake’ processors during the event.

Intel Announces 2 September Event

Intel’s Tiger Lake CPUs are expected to be made exclusively for notebooks and come with the company’s new Xe-based integrated graphics solution. Additionally, the aforementioned processor ‘family’ will be based off of the 10nm+ architecture, which is also used by Intel’s current 10th Gen ‘Ice Lake’ CPUs.

Normally, we would see notebooks with new Intel chips being debuted at Computex; unfortunately, this isn’t the case in 2020 as the convention was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That being said, laptop makers like Acer and Lenovo are very likely to debut notebooks with Tiger Lake-powered CPUs (and Thunderbolt 4) soon after the aforementioned processors are launched.

The new 11th Gen Tiger Lake processors will most definitely be competing more ‘aggressively’ against AMD’s Ryzen 4000 CPUs. This is indeed great for us consumers as we may be able see even more powerful notebooks at an affordable price point. We’ll just have to wait and see if this turns out the be the case.
