Intel Announces 11th Gen ‘Tiger Lake’ CPUs; Features Xe-LP Graphics

Tiger Lake

Intel has officially announced its 11th generation processors, which are also known as ‘Tiger Lake‘. The announcement came only a few days after Tiger Lake promotional videos were leaked on Twitter. For those who aren’t aware, Intel’s 11th generation CPUs are made primarily for the thin-and-light notebook market.

Intel launches nine new 11th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics (code-named “Tiger Lake”) on Sept. 2, 2020. In its announcement, Intel debuted nine different 11th generation processors—all of which are based off of the 10nm process technology. The processors in questions are: i7-1185G7, i7-1165G7, i5-113G7, i3-1125G4, i3-1115G4, i7-1160G7, i5-1130G7, i3-1120G4 and i3-1110G4. All of these processors feature anywhere from 2 CPU cores and 4 threads, up to 4 CPU cores and 8 threads (see image below).

Moreover, all of the aforementioned Tiger Lake CPUs come equipped with Intel’s new Iris Xe graphics (low-powered) as well. Interestingly, according to Intel’s internal testing, it seems that Tiger Lake CPUs can outperform AMD’s equivalent Ryzen offerings—although it should be noted that Intel compared performance between the Core i7-1185G7 against the Ryzen 7 4800U.

Other notable features of Intel’s 11th generation CPUs include native Thunderbolt 4 and WiFi 6 support, along with the capability of powering up to four 4K monitors at the same time or a single 8K monitor. These were announced by Intel several months ago. Intel has also stated that there will be more than 150 thin-and-light notebooks which will feature Tiger Lake CPUs from companies like Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, LG, MSI, Razer, Samsung and more.
