Huawei MatePad Pro 5G Brings 5G Connectivity To Tablets

Huawei unveiled their next generation Android tablet, this time in the form of the Huawei MatePad Pro 5G. As the name suggests, this tablet comes with 5G connectivity and a slew of accessories to compliment the tablet with additional features.

Specifications

The Huawei MatePad Pro 5G features a 10.8-inch Huawei FULLVIEW display that has a screen-to-body ratio of 90%. It has a 2K QHD panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1600, giving it a pixel density of 280 ppi. Not only that, it has an aspect ratio of 16:10, DCI-P3 cinematic colour gamut at 540 nits brightness, as wel as 1500:1 contrast ratio.

Running on the Kirin 990 5G flagship processor with the 7nm+ EUV process, the MatePad supports both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) architectures, as well as TDD/FDD multi-frequency bands. Memory wise, it comes paired with up to 8GB LPDDR4X dual-channel RAM and 512GB of storage.

As for the cameras, the front has an 8MP camera for the video calls, or selfie if you want. The rear sports a 13MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, supporting auto focus and even a flash.

Connectivity wise, the Huawei MatePad Pro 5G has Bluetooth 5.1 and a USB 3.1 Type-C port. It has a battery of 7,250mAh that supports Huawei’s 40W SuperCharge. It is also the world’s first tablet that supports wireless and reverse wireless charging.

In terms of audio, the MatePad Pro 5G supports Histen 6.0 that drives 3D stereo sound effects. There are four speakers on the tablet, all tuned by Harman Kardon.

Productivity Suite

Running on EMUI 10, the MatePad Pro 5G supports an array of features including Multi-Window, Multi-Screen Collaboration, and the Huawei App Multiplier. Apart from that, it still has a few tricks up its sleeve. It supports the Huawei M-Pencil, Smart Magnetic Keyboard to work better with PC Mode and WPS’ new features.

Multi-screen Collaboration allows users to drag and drop files between smartphones and tablets. You can even type on the tablet to enter text into your smartphone and play music from your phone through the tablet’s speakers. Conveniently, users can also pick up calls or respond to texts right from the tablet itself.

Multi-window lets users multitask by opening up to three apps at the same time. This way, you can work on a document, while listening to music and checking for today’s latest news. Floating Window lets you reply to texts without even leaving your current app, reducing any interruption during your flow. As for the Huawei App Multiplier, it could open an app into two windows. For example, if you’re on Taobao (online shopping app), you could view the main page on the left, while the right will display the product page you clicked on.

Inspired by nature, the MatePad Pro 5G will come in four colours – Forest Green, Pearl White, Midnight Grey, and Orange. As for the 5G version, it comes in an elegant vegan leather finish.
