Apart from announcing the Huawei MateBook X Pro, the company also announed two new tablets in addition to the MatePad lineup – Huawei MatePad and Huawei MatePad T. These tablets will be available starting the 16th of May 2020.
Huawei MatePad
Following its signature FullView experience like the Huawei Matebook X Pro, the Huawei MatePad comes with a 10.4-inch 2K display with image quality, color saturation, and sharpness are heightened with the proprietary Huawei ClariVu Display Enhancement technology.
Powered by the Kirin 810 AI chipset, the Huawei MatePad has the latest AI processing capacity to power sophisticated smart features and enhance the user experience. It also comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Plus, it is an LTE variant, meaning you can insert a SIM card for mobile data. It also weighs 450 grams, so it’s light for users that are on the move.
Huawei has also equipped the MatePad with a quad-microphone system that has noise reducing and sound pickup features within five (5) meters. The FollowCam feature is supported on the 8MP wide-angle front camera that has a field of view of 107° to track the moving subject and intelligently adjust the screen accordingly. Not only that, it also supports gesture controls including Smart View, Spotlight mode, and Camera Gestures. The Huawei MatePad is also packed with four high amplitude speakers tuned by Harman Kardon. In addition, it also supports Histen 6.0 to drive 3D stereo sound effects.
Similar to its elder sibling – Huawei MatePad Pro, the Huawei Share and Huawei MEETime feature is also supported on the Huawei MatePad. The Huawei Share feature enables Multi-screen Collaboration to connect the users’ Huawei smartphone to seamlessly use two devices simultaneously on one display.
On the other hand, Huawei’s MEETime is a video-calling technology that not only allows users to share screens but also to circle, highlight, or make notes on the screen in real-time. The MatePad also supports the usage of the Smart Magnetic Keyboard and Huawei’s M-pencil, making it the ultimate tool for video-calling for work and leisure. Keeping the device juiced up is a large 7,250mAh battery.
Huawei MatePad T
The Huawei MatePad T is a new 8-inch tablet that is running on an octa-core processor, which we currently do not know the model. But, what we do know is that it is powered by a 5,100mAh high capacity battery. It also comes paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Just like the Huawei MatePad, the MatePad T also supports LTE connectivity for mobile data.
The Huawei MatePad T comes in a Deepsea Blue color and has a metallic area finish and has a screen-to-body ratio of over 80 percent and weighs just about 310 grams, ideal for one-handed use.
The Kids Corner is also installed in the Huawei MatePad T, which is an ideal learning companion that is a safe and secure space for children to learn and have fun. It has parental control options to let parents easily manage the content and apps available to their children. Four eye protection modes like blue light filter, posture alerts, bumpy road alerts, eBook mode also available in the Kids Corner to promote healthy device usage and conform experience.

The Huawei MatePad will come in the Midnight Grey colour, and is priced at RM1,399. As for the smaller Huawei MatePad T, it will come in Deepsea Blue, priced at RM559.
