Huawei P40 Series’ AI Portrait Mode Helps You Capture The Beauty Of Ramadhan

Hari Raya is just around the corner, and this year’s celebrations will be unlike any other, with the travel restrictions still in place. But despite the unusual circumstances, the Ramadhan festive season remains just as beautiful – a time of reflection, revelation, and restoration.

So why not capture and preserve every precious moment? You can do so in perfect detail, even while staying safe and healthy at home, with the HUAWEI P40 Series’ AI Portrait Mode and other exceptional camera features, that make the flagship series truly the best in smartphone photography and connectivity.

Lighting is crucial for any photo work, but it’s also tough to get right. At noon, backlight tends to be an issue. And at night, the lack of luminance can prove troublesome as well. But with the HUAWEI P40 Series’ AI Portrait Mode, lighting doesn’t become a problem at all.

The artificial intelligence (AI) inside the HUAWEI P40 Series is “taught” with tens of thousands of professionally taken portraits. In backlit scenes, the AI can light up the face of the subject, improving the definition of the facial features while retaining a lot of the details on the background. Perfect for shooting that Raya OOTD.

Night photography has always been the staple of any HUAWEI camera smartphone. The HUAWEI P40 Series certainly doesn’t disappoint in this department. Even in dimly lit areas, the highly sensitive HUAWEI Ultra Vision Sensor inside the HUAWEI P40 Series can still perform exceedingly well, capable of producing high quality images even without flash.

Featuring on the full HUAWEI P40 Series, the Multi-spectrum Colour Sensor and AI AWB Algorithm boost colour accuracy by as much as 45%. The deep learning algorithms also contribute to optimising portraits, allowing the small details such as hair texture as well as lighting and shadows to come through really well.

The new AI algorithms for portraits provide targeted lighting improvements to the subject’s face. The processed images exhibit richer details and more realistic colours. Even at night, your subject can still shine like a star in your photos.

Bokeh is also an important tool that photographers can use to highlight their portrait subjects. The ToF Camera on the HUAWEI P40 Pro can accurately gauge depth, enabling the devices to isolate the face, hair, body and clothes from the background. The final effect rivals DSLR cameras.

For selfie enthusiasts, the front camera is quite important. The HUAWEI P40 Series comes with front cameras that support resolution as high as 32MP. Users can also take 4K UHD footage, which allow for better retention of minuscule details on the face, such as texture, hair and even eye lashes.

The HUAWEI P40 also comes with an IR Depth Camera, which supports IR Face Unlock and AI Air Gestures. The closed-loop motor enables the front camera to support autofocus – so whether you’re shooting up close and personal, or taking a selfie with a selfie stick, you won’t end up with a blurry mess. So capture what’s cooking for that buka puasa feast, or what you’re wearing this Raya, or even your thoughts on this year’s novel celebrations – and share it with the world!

Take close-ups and wide shots at the same time

HUAWEI first launched the HUAWEI Dual-View Video with its P30 Series. This feature allows users to take a close-up and wide shots simultaneously, making it an even more versatile device. Now, HUAWEI has one-upped itself with an enhanced version of the feature on the P40 Series.

The HUAWEI Dual-View Video leverages two lenses at once to capture footage. This feature stitches the two footages together, which means users can view both footages side by side in one video. Those that are more daring can even zoom in on their subject for an even more dramatic effect.

Innovative and fun AI features

Other than being great for portraits, the HUAWEI P40 Series has more tricks up its sleeves. When you shoot photos with the Moving Pictures function, you get access to AI Best Moment, which automatically picks up to three best frames in your clip.

AI Remove Passersby makes it easy for you to remove unwanted subjects from the frame after the picture is taken, and AI Remove Reflection can effectively remove reflections from images – perfect for when you’re taking a shot behind windows or of objects inside a glass housing.
