Google Accidentally Posted Pixel 4A Photo on its Website

Google has ‘accidentally’ posted a photo of its upcoming budget smartphone, the Pixel 4A, on its official website. This heavily rumoured ‘affordable’ smartphone was first expected to be released during Google’s annual developers conference this year, but as with other major tech events, this didn’t come to fruition due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pixel 4A Photo Leaked… by Google

According to The Verge, the photo had a text description of “Next WiFi”, which it obviously isn’t. Therefore, it’s likely that Google had posted the Pixel 4A photo by mistake. Or was it? Previous reports by other media outlets have hypothesised that Google may at times intentionally leak its upcoming products to build hype—which admittedly is an interesting marketing strategy.

When it comes to design, the leaked Pixel 4A photo features an all black smartphone chassis, a single camera rear camera and a hole-punch front camera. As expected, the budget smartphone does come with a rear fingerprint scanner as well.

Those aside, this accidental leak by Google confirms that the company is indeed planning to debut the Pixel 4A sometime this year. Rumours have also circulated that it will be unveiled alongside Google’s flagship smartphones: the Pixel 5. Hopefully, Google will choose to officially showcase its upcoming Pixel phones sooner rather than later.
