Facebook Starts Rolling Out Dark Mode for its Mobile App

Facebook

It looks like ‘dark mode’ will finally be coming to Facebook’s mobile app soon. The company has confirmed that it is currently testing out the new feature. Interestingly, a handful of iOS users have also seen the option to enable dark mode on the mobile app recently; which may be an indication that the company is also simultaneously rolling out the feature to mobile users.

Dark Mode for Facebook App Soon

Unfortunately, as reported by The Verge, Facebook stated that there isn’t a specific timeline in place yet for making the dark mode feature available to all mobile users. That being said, we don’t expect it to take too long before users will start seeing this feature being made available—hopefully sooner rather than later.

Those aside, it seems rather odd that it has taken Facebook until now to begin testing the dark mode feature for its primary mobile app; other apps owned by the company such as WhatsApp and Instagram and even Facebook Messenger all have dark mode.

Speaking of which, it’s becoming somewhat of a new ‘norm’ now of using dark mode for every app that has it. Not only does apps look ‘prettier’ in dark mode, it also reduces the strain to one’s eye and may even reduce the device’s battery consumption. I personally prefer this over the blinding light mode; especially at night. What about you?
