Facebook Messenger Rooms Lets 50 Participants Join A Video Call

Messenger Rooms

Facebook’s Messenger app is getting a new feature which allows 50 participants to join a single video call. Called Messenger Rooms, this allows participants to start a video call right from the Messenger app, and allows up to 50 people to join in.

Not only can you invite your friends and family who are already on Facebook to join the video call, you can also invite those who don’t have a Facebook account. It is worth mentioning that Messenger Rooms sessions can be shared on Facebook through news feed, groups, and events so it’s easier for people to join in.

Messenger Rooms

As for private sessions, hosts will be able to control who see the Messenger Rooms sessions and who is able to participate. There are also additional room moderation controls such as reporting or removing participants, as well as locking others from joining that can be done while the call is happening.

According to Facebook, users can join a Messenger Rooms video call either from their desktop or smartphone. The best thing is, you don’t need to download any additional software or app to get started. For those who are using their smartphones to connect to Messenger Rooms, you can even use the built-in AR effects, together with the 360-degree backgrounds and mood lighting AI features.

The Messenger Rooms feature may not be in your smartphone yet, but Facebook is already slowly rolling it out in some countries within the week.
