Asus has just confirmed that the long anticipated Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 will indeed have its official launching in Malaysia on the 29th of June 2020. Asus has sent us one of the many variants of the G14 for review, and to our surprise, it comes with the AniMe Matrix LED panel!
You didn’t read that wrong. Malaysian ROG fans will be getting the AniMe Matrix model of the Zephyrus G14, and our review unit is one of the models that has the feature. We’ll definitely show more of it in our review video, but for now, why don’t we show you its specifications and pricing?
Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 – Specifications
The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is indeed a Malaysian consumer unit, and not a sample. It’s got AMD’s Ryzen 9 4900HS processor powering the laptop, built on the 7nm process. The laptop is also equipped with a very capable Nvidia GeForce’s RTX 2060 Max-Q GPU. Because this is the Max-Q variant, do expect slightly slower performance than the regular RTX 2060 GPU.
As for its screen, the ROG Zephyrus G14 has a 14-inch 2K IPS screen capable of 2560 x 1440 resolution. That being said, the display only has a 60Hz refresh rate. And our question is, why? Asus should have brought in the Full HD 120Hz display instead of a 2K 60Hz, and that’s a bit odd to be honest. We hope Asus will bring in the 120Hz screen variant, because some gamers would appreciate the 120Hz refresh rate more than the 2K display.
Our unit of the ROG Zephyrus G14 also comes furnished with 16GB of DDR4 3200MHz RAM, 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD, and a large 76Whr battery, which Asus claims can provide up to 10 hours of battery life. They didn’t mention if this includes the AniMe Matrix LED panel being on the entire time or not, but the Ryzen 4000 series processor can definitely contribute in managing battery life.
The laptop weighs 1.7KG and has a 19.9mm thick body. Priced at RM7,699, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 will be available on the 29th June 2020, alongside other variants.
