The Asus ROG Phone 3 made its global debut, and now it’s finally ready to cruise its way into Malaysia. The announcement has been scheduled for the 3rd of September, which will be held on the 5th of September 2020, at 8.30PM on Asus Republic of Gamer’s Facebook page.

To recap, Asus is launching two variants of the ROG Phone 3 – Standard Edition and a Strix Edition. The Asus ROG Phone 3 will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus, while the Strix Edition gets a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor. Other differences between the two variants include the RAM and memory configurations, where the ROG Phone 3 will sport up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage, while the Strix Edition will feature up to only 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
Apart from the aforementioned differences, both phones share the same specifications. They both have a 6.59-inch AMOLED 10-bit HDR display with a 1,000 nits peak brightness. The screen is also rated Delta-E <1 and supports DCI-P3 colour gamut. Having an AMOLED screen, it also supports the Always On feature.
In the camera department, the Asus ROG Phone 3 series feature a triple camera system which consists of a main 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide angle lens, a 5MP macro lens, as well as a 24MP sensor on the front for selfies.
Fans will be happy to know that the Asus ROG Phone 3 series is also big on sound as it retains the dual front-facing speakers with Dirac HD Sound and dual NXP smart amplifiers.
Connectivity wise, the Asus ROG Phone 3 is packed all the latest bells and whistles. It has dual-band Wifi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 with aptX support, NFC, and multiple USB Type-C ports on the side and bottom. The one on the side supports USB 3.1 Gen 2, DisplayPort 1.4 (4K UHD), and fast charging (PD 3.0) 30 watt. The port also connects accessories such as the AeroActive Cooler 3, which features a pass-through USB-C connector, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a new kickstand on the back to support ROG Phone 3 on a desk or table for a better viewing and gaming experience. As for the one on the bottom, it supports USB 2.0 with fast charging (PD3.0) 30 watt, and direct charging.
The Asus ROG Phone 3 also comes with an upgraded AirTrigger 3, which allows ultrasonic touch controls along the edges of the phone, including a newly added swipe gesture and dual-partition button emulation. There’s also a brand-new motion sensor that adds another gesture to the armory, allowing gamers to control the action by shaking the device. Running on Android 10 with the new ROG UI, the ROG Phone 3 series will have a 6,000mAh battery as expected.

The unrivaled range of modular accessories for ROG Phone 3 includes the new modular ROG Kunai 3 Gamepad which adds physical console-like gamepad controls to ROG Phone 3; the new ROG Lighting Armor Case for a stunning appearance; and ROG Clip to attach the phone to selected console controllers for the ultimate mobile gaming experience. Asus ROG Phone 3 can also be expanded to provide true 144 Hz dual-screen gameplay with the new TwinView Dock 3, and the Mobile Desktop Dock allows gamers to connect a desktop keyboard and mouse for a desktop-like gaming experience on an external TV or monitor.
Pricing and Availability
Launching on the 5th of September 2020, at 8.30PM, both the Asus ROG Phone 3 and ROG Phone 3 Strix Edition will arrive in Malaysia.
There’s no mention yet on pricing, so we’ll just have to wait for Asus to announce the prices on the 5th of September 2020. For your reference, the below are the prices of the ROG Phone 2, as well as the ROG Phone 3 variants that will be announced for Malaysia.
