WhatsApp Stories isn’t a new feature to most WhatsApp users by now. Whether you use them or not, the company is introducing advertisements to the platform by next year (2020).
This piece of news was announced at the annual Facebook Marketing Summit in Rotterdam, Netherlands. “Whatsapp will bring Stories Ads in its status product in 2020,” tweeted Oilivier Ponteville ,the media head at BeConnectAgency. Olivier explained that stories would be displayed entirely on the screen and a link will redirect users to the website.
Matt Navarra, a social media consultant and commentator, also posted on Twitter about the other two new features that will be added on WhatsApp soon. These features will be a richer messaging format option, as well as the integration of WhatsApp product catalog with FaceBook Business Manager catalog.
The former feature, richer messaging format means that WhatsApp messages would now have image and text along with PDF and text simultaneously in just one message. As for the latter, Facebook is testing a feature that would enable businesses to add their product catalog directly into their chats. This is great for businesses that don’t have a website and want to focus solely on promoting their products on WhatsApp.
