PUMA has teamed up with the folks at Fossil Group to launch its first smartwatch at IFA 2019 this week. The wearable took 12 months to design and produce, and it’s powered by Google’s Wear OS and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset will handle the processing performance.

The Puma smartwatch features a 1.19-inch circular AMOLED display, that’s packed in a cut-out nylon and aluminium 44mm watch case. Puma will be targeting the smartwatch for fitness and sports buffs, as it will be swimproof and lightweight at only 0.06 pounds.

Under the display, Puma’s smartwatch will be running on 4GB of storage and 512MB of RAM, which is pretty standard on most Wear OS watches. Having the Snapdragon 3100 chipset in it, Puma promises more than 24 hours of batter life on a single charge. Powered by Google’s Wear OS, you’ll most likely get the standard features like NFC payments, heart rate monitoring, fitness tracking, Google Assistant integration, and more. Other than that, Puma is also supporting 16mm straps through a single prong strap buckle.

This isn’t the first time Puma is experimenting combining fitness with tech as they’ve previously launched its own self-lacing sneakers back in 2016, a re-release of its classic 1986 RS-Computer running shoe complete with a USB port for charging and Bluetooth connectivity to connect the shoe to your phone.

Puma is planning to launch its new smartwatch in November 2019, and it will be available in three colour options (pictured above) for the price of $275.
