Overwatch 2 Announced at BlizzCon 2019 5

BlizzCon 2019 is well underway and the event saw a slew of new game titles announced. Overwatch, originally launched in 2014, Blizzard finally announced the sequel to the company’s popular PvP title. Obviously, it’s titled “Overwatch 2” and fans are freaking out with how Blizzard announced it.

First, there was a cinematic trailer that sees Winston, Mei, and Tracer getting ready to defend against the Null Sector, an extremist Omnic Group in Paris, France. Fighting against all odds, the three of them managed to fight back – Of course, with a little help. Say no more, and enjoy “Zero Hour”.

Then, there was the gameplay trailer that was released soon after. On first glance, it seems Overwatch 2 will be introducing new features, new maps, and even new gameplay elements. There will be a single-player campaign this time round, and it’s definitely focusing on thwarting the Null Sector, and later, the terrorist group, Talon.

There will also be a new PvP mode called Push. It’s a co-op mode that gathers up to four players to play together in a single mission. In addition, Overwatch 2 will also feature a level progression system. This allows players to choose from two skills at the different level tiers.

Apart from the trailers, Blizzard hasn’t released the full roster of characters that will be making a return in Overwatch 2. The company hasn’t made any announcement on availability yet, but they did mention that achievements and collections from the first Overwatch will be carried over to Overwatch 2. This includes:

  • Skins
  • Player icons
  • Sprays
  • Emotes.
