On top of enabling backward compatibility of games between PS4 and PS5, it seems Sony is including multiplayer connectivity on their to-do list as well.
GamesRadar+ has reported that PS5 owners will be able to play the same games with those who are playing on their PS4 system. This allows for communities to maintain their status quo while getting new members. It’s a great feature for those who are hesitant or do not wish to upgrade to the PS5 yet, and for those who are loyal to their PS4 systems.
We hope that backwards compatibility and multiplayer connectivity will also spell save game transfers between the PS4 and PS5. As Jim Ryan, the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has said that this feature would allow the gradual migration of gamer communities from one console generation to the next.
