Just weeks after launching the flagship Mi 9 model in Malaysia, Xiaomi has finally launched the more compact version of the smartphone, dubbed the Mi 9 SE. It doesn’t look that much different from its bigger brother, but when you take a look at the specifications, that’s where it differs.
The Mi 9 SE is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM. The display is a smaller 5.97-inch Super AMOLED panel with FHD (1080 x 2340) resolution. Xiaomi claims that this is the best screen size that will fit comfortably in your hands as well as your pockets.
In the camera division, the Mi 9 SE adopts the Mi 9’s AI triple camera system that comprises of the 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, an 8MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, and a 13MP ultra-wide angle lens.
On top of that, the Mi 9 SE also packs an in-screen fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C connectivity, and a rather small 3,070mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging.
In conjunction with Mother’s Day, Xiaomi will be throwing in a free Mi Power Bank 2S with every Mi 9 SE purchased from the 4th to 12th of May 2019.
The Mi 9 SE will be available starting on the 4th of May, with prices starting from RM1,299 for the 64GB storage version and RM1,499 for the 128GB storage version.
