The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has come forward and shared more details on its upcoming Level UP KL 2019 event. It seems this year MDEC will be taking a different approach for Level UP KL, as compared to previous years.
In its fifth year, Level UP KL 2019 will now have two different sections – Level UP KL Biz, and Level UP KL Play.
Level UP KL Biz

Level UP KL Biz will be held from the 2nd to 8th of November, focusing on game development and industry networking. Apart from that, there will also be Masterclass workshops and a conference running from the 7th to 8th of November. The conference will host several notable speakers such as:
- Danny Koo, Senior Producer for Marvel Games
- Swen Vincke, CEO of Larian Studios
- Ashnil Dixit, Google

Level UP KL Biz will also host SEA Game Jam, a 36-hour game development hackathon. Here is where game developers will gather and create their very own game in the specified time given. In addition, the SEA Games Awards will also be hosted here.
Level UP KL Play

As for Level UP KL Play, this is the segment that will be open to the public. Happening on the 9th and 10th of November at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, this segment is a gaming exhibition for the public. Local game developers will also showcase their latest games – Re:Legend, Bake’n Switch, GigaBash, and even Malaysia’s animated movie, Ejen Ali’s standalone game. It will also have other activities such as:
- Cosplay Events
- Esports Tournaments
- Lucky Draws
- Performances
- Career Opportunity Sharing

In terms of eSports, Level UP KL will be the main ground for Syed Saddiq, the Minister of Sports and Youth to flag off our national eSports athletes for the upcoming SEA Games 2019 in Manila, Philippines. Esport titles featured are Tekken 7 and PES 2019 on consoles, while the Malaysian Grand Finals for the Predator League will feature Dota 2 and PUBG.
Video Game Orchestra

MDEC also announced Malaysia’s very first Video Game Orchestra – an energy-filled concert playing some of the most memorable gaming soundtracks. The VGO will happen on the 9th of November, with ticket prices sold at RM108 for general entrance, while meet and greet passes will be sold at RM228.
