Kakao has launched its very first smartphone and it comes with 5G technology – the Stage 5G. The company responsible for the messaging app, KakaoTalk, has collaborated with Infomark, a smartphone manufacturer and developer, Stage Five to come up with the Kakao Stage 5G.
The Kakao Stage 5G is packed with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD up to 2TB). On the front, it has a 6.47-inch AMOLED display with a “waterfall design” notch housing the 20MP selfie camera.
On the rear, it has a triple camera system which consists of a 48MP main sensor, 20MP wide-angle sensor capable of 125-degree viewing angle, and an 8MP telephoto sensor for zooming capabilities.
Kakao Stage 5G is powered by a 4,000mAh battery, complete with support for Qualcomm QuickCharge 4+. It’s also fitted with USB Type-C and will run on Android 9.0 Pie right out of the box.
The company has of course bundled its own services into the Stage 5G, and will be directly available from the lockscreen itself for easier accessibility. These services include:
- Payment: KakaoPay
- Transportation: KakaoT
- Navigation: KakaoNavi
- Digital Content Marketplace: KakaoPage
- Games: KakaoGames
The Kakao Stage 5G will only be available in one colour, which is a light blue variant. Not the best colour in our opinion, but it’s still better than the bright yellow the company is famous for. The smartphone is priced at 814,000 Korean Won and will only be available in South Korea.
